The transition from PSN for Policing (PSNfP) to the Law Enforcement Community Network (LECN) represents a strategic advancement in secure communications. LECN, developed by the Home Office, facilitates seamless collaboration, real-time data sharing, and operational coordination across UK law enforcement agencies. FLEX Pathway ensures uninterrupted, secure connectivity and supports the migration of physical infrastructure to cloud-based services, in line with Police Digital Services guidance.
The move from PSNfP to LECN for non-policing organisations that need to connect to UK Policing systems is more than a technical upgrade – it’s a strategic leap toward enhanced security, flexibility, and operational efficiency. FLEX Pathway ensures that these critical communication channels remain open, secure, and resilient.
Another significant Home Office programme is the replacement of the Police Nation Computer (PNC) with The Law Enforcement Data Service (LEDS), which will provide police forces and other law enforcement agencies with the latest, on-demand and joined-up information at the point of need. This will help to prevent crime and better safeguard the public. As part of this programme, connectivity routes and APIs are also being developed to enable data exchange between LEDS and a range of applications and organisations that operate across the wider Law Enforcement community.
