Nine23 are committed to environmental sustainability and achieving Net Zero emissions.
As a company, we recognise the urgent need to address climate change and reduce our environmental impact. Therefore, we have made a firm commitment to achieving net zero emissions. This means that we are dedicated to balancing the amount of greenhouse gases we release with an equivalent amount that is removed from the atmosphere. Our goal is to reach 90% net zero emissions by 2050 and compensate for any emissions we cannot remove. We are implementing various strategies and initiatives to make this a reality.
Over the past year we have been working with climate action platform Ecology and have calculated the greenhouse gas emissions of every area of our business each year from 2022 and are now working on 2025.
We are proud of taking this first step and have been awarded the ‘On the Road to Net Zero’ certification mark which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to reach Net Zero.
Our Sustainability Initiatives
To achieve our net zero commitment, we are implementing a range of sustainability initiatives across our operations. These include:
Renewable Energy: Southampton Science Park have recently installed solar panels, to provide power to our office supporting our commitment to reducing our environmental impact and increasing our use of renewable energy.
Energy Efficiency: We are investing in energy-efficient technologies and practices to minimise energy consumption and carbon footprint.
Supply Chain Optimisation: We are working closely with our suppliers to ensure that they also adhere to sustainable practices, thereby reducing the overall carbon impact of our supply chain
Committed to ambitious targets (professional services). Take action to achieve the following ambitious GHG reduction targets in order to restrict warming to less than 1.5 degrees.
- Near term – At least 30% reduction of our scope 3 emissions within 5 years
- Long term – 90% reduction across all of our emissions, including scope 3 by 2050
Compensate for residual emissions: Once we reach the long-term reduction target, we will publish each year the validated annual footprint, targets, action taken and progress towards reaching net zero.
Agree to publish GHG data: To demonstrate our commitment to transparency and advocacy, we will publish each year the validated annual footprint, targets, action taken and progress towards reaching net zero.

Transparency and Accountability
We understand the importance of transparency and accountability in our journey towards net zero. Therefore, we are committed to regularly communicating our progress, challenges, and achievements in reducing emissions. We believe that by being transparent about our efforts, we can inspire others and contribute to a collective movement towards a more sustainable future.
Engaging Our Stakeholders
We value the input and collaboration of our customers, employees, and other stakeholders in this journey towards net zero. We encourage you to share your thoughts, ideas, and feedback on how we can further improve our sustainability initiatives.
Conclusion
In conclusion, achieving net zero emissions is a significant undertaking, but it is one that we are fully committed to. We believe that by taking decisive action now, we can help mitigate the impacts of climate change and create a better world for future generations.

Nine23 are proud to be working in partnership with a number of global hi-tech companies and as part of the Trust X Alliance Global Goals Initiative, to address relevant areas of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Out of the 17 goals, 4 have been chosen with the intent that we can affect these areas the most. They are: Good Health and Well-Being (3), Gender Equality (5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (8), and Climate Action (13). Individually, Nine23 have our own targets, and are continually formulating improvements to our plan, to guarantee these goals are met.
The benefits that can be driven through social value can be a vital component in advancing equality, creating training and better employment opportunities.
The SME Climate Hub for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) provides a one-stop-shop to make a climate commitment and access best-in-class tools and resources. They have partnered with Oxford University to support small businesses in reducing their carbon emissions and to provide climate solutions to contribute to climate action in society.
